Is the rally broad or narrow?

Market Breadth tells you in one glance whether price strength is broad — most coins participating, a healthy tape — or narrow, where a handful of names carry the index while everything else quietly fades. Three classic lenses — the percent of pairs above their moving averages, daily advances vs declines, and new 52-week highs vs lows — distilled to a single breadth verdict.

What these mean

The breadth vocabulary, in plain English.

Breadth measures participation — how widely the move is shared across the market — not the price of any single coin.

Plain-English
primer
% > MA

Above the moving average.

The share of pairs trading above their 50/100/200-day average. High readings mean broad participation; a falling 50-day share while the index holds up is an early thinning signal.

REGIME

The regime read.

From the % above the 50-day: over 80% is Euphoria (overheated, late-stage broad); 30–80% is Neutral / Constructive; under 30% is Oversold (washed out). Extremes tend to mean-revert.

A/D

Advance / decline.

How many pairs rose versus fell on the session. The cumulative A/D line — the running sum of advances minus declines — rises when participation is building and rolls over before headline weakness shows.

52WK H/L

New highs vs lows.

The count of pairs printing fresh 52-week highs against those printing 52-week lows. Persistent highs >> lows is broad leadership; expanding lows in an up-market is hidden weakness.

BROAD

A broad tape.

Most coins participating: a high % above the 50-day, advancers leading, and highs outpacing lows. Broad strength is the healthier, more durable kind of rally.

NARROW

A narrow tape.

A few names carrying the index while the % above the 50-day fades and new lows expand. Narrow strength is fragile — the kind that unwinds quickly when leadership stumbles.

Disclaimer. Breadth is descriptive, not predictive. Derived from market data; represents market expectations, not forecasts or financial advice. The regime read and breadth verdict describe what participation looks like now, not what price will do next. Always do your own research.
